On July 26th 2019, Tignes is hosting the penultimate mountain stop of the Tour de France, two days before the traditional arrival on the Champs Elysées.

 

Exceptional surroundings, between lakes, glaciers and mythical summits, at the heart of the Vanoise National Park, await the competitors, spectators and television viewers all around the World.

 

Twelve years after the latest Tour de France stop in Tignes, back in 2007, cycling enthusiasts will happily cheer on the best athletes of the planet when their start cycling up the road between Tignes les Brévières and Tignes le Lac.

 

July 26th promises to be a festive and friendly day!

 

 

The stage in brief...

Departure: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

  • 11.45am*: publicity fleet
  • 13.45am*: racing cyclists

 

Passing through the Col de l'Iseran pass (highest road pass in France: 2270 m), then through Val d’Isère, Tignes 1550 - Les Brévières, Tignes 1800 and Tignes le Lac

 

Arrival: Tignes Val Claret (altitude: 2100 m)

  • 15.50pm*: publicity fleet
  • Between 5.15pm* and 5.45pm*: racing cyclists

 

Follow the race along the road, as well as in front of the giant screen that will be installed near the "Le Lagon" swimming pool in Tignes le Lac! A refreshment bar and an official Tour de France shop will also be available nearby.

Parking information in Tignes 2100 on July 26th

 

TIGNES LE LAC:

  • Lac 1 & 2, Rosset and Lavachet car parks: open

 

TIGNES VAL CLARET:

  • Golf car park (except the subscribers zone): open

 

The Lac 3, Grande Motte and Boucle Est car parks will be closed during the Tour de France.

 

Other car parks will be available as well in Tignes les Brévières and in Les Boisses.

 

 

camping-cars information

 

No bivouac nor camping is allowed near the Tignes lake. Are you planning to come to Tignes with a camper? Then head to the campsite in Tignes les Brévières in priority.

 

In accordance with the law, campers can stop wherever a car is allowed to stop (unless there is a specific ban). It is allowed for the camper owners to sleep in their camper, as long as they do not use their camper accessories on the public road (no outdoor accessories such as wedges, garden furniture, awning...).

 

The campers area in Tignes Val Claret will be closed until July 26th, but will open back on July 27th 2019.

Road closures

  • Col de l'Iseran : 23/07 to 26/07

Free lift open on 26/07 to reach Iseran Pass :
– Fornet cable car
– Vallon de l’Iseran gondola
From 8:30 to 14:30 on the way up and from 16:30 to 17:30 way down.

 

  • Lac > Val Claret: 7.00am

 

  • D87A (from the dam to Tignes le Lac): 11.00am

 

  • D902 (between Tignes and Val d’Isère): noon

 

  • D87B ("route des ruines", between Tignes les Brévières and Tignes le Lac): 8.00am

 

The road will open back after the sweep vehicle (last racing cyclist) around 6.00pm / 7.00pm.

 

Our advice: do not try to leave the resort immediately after the roads opens back. The traffic is expected to be very heavy, and you would probably spend more time than you would wish in your car :-) So take your time, enjoy the resort, and postpone your departure from a few hours!

 

 

Free bus shuttle

 

  • Tignes 1800 > Tignes le Lac route: 1 bus shuttle from 8am to 11am and from 8pm to 10pm. No stop in Les Boisses: it will be replaced by a stop at the intersection of the D87A departmental road.

 

  • Tignes 2100 route (Lac-Lavachet-Val Claret): no bus shuttle on July 26th.

 

We advise you to walk or cycle around the resort on July 26th :-)

Outdoor activities impacted by the Tour de France on July 26th

 

  • Water sports centre, Sports Beach, Acroland, Lavachet and Val Claret Centre sports area: open on July 26th

 

  • Cantona and Galthié fields, pumptrack in Val Claret, basketball field near the Lanches chairlift: no access on July 26th

 

  • Bike Park: partial opening (the comprehensive list of the impacted pistes is available here).

 

 

 

 

  • Glacier: open as usual, except for an exceptional closure at 11.30am for skiers only – Please note that it will be quite complicated to access the funicular on July 26th (no bus shuttle nor car park nearby)

 

  • Golf: open from 8am to noon (last departure)

 

  • Equestrian centre: open until 2pm

 

  • Iseran pass: closed from 23/07 to 26/07.
