Tignes will have the great joy of hosting the 9th stage of the Le Tour de France on July 4, 2021, as well as the first day of rest on July 5.
On July 26, 2019, Tignes marked the history of the Tour in a funny way ... by becoming the first town NOT to welcome the arrival of a stage of the Grande Boucle! Everything had started well: the sun was shining, the public were enjoying the warm atmosphere, when a violent storm spoiled the party and brought the stage to the Iseran Pass to a halt. A huge disappointment, of course, but one that made us even more impatient to be able to celebrate the little queen again very soon.
The teams are already mobilized to make this 2021 edition a festive and friendly stage, just like this unmissable event for international cycling. Long live the Tour!
The start will be in Haute-Savoie, in Cluses (505m). The runners will start their ascent towards Megève then take the direction of Beaufortain via the Col des Saisies (1650m). From the village of Beaufort (725m), they will tackle Cormet de Roselend (1968m) and its 1,243m drop! Arrived in Tarentaise, 1,277m of vertical drop still awaits our runners for the final ascent to Tignes (2113m) via Les Brévières.
La Fête du Tour aura lieu le samedi 19 juin de 9h à 18h au niveau de l’amphithéâtre au Lac.
Cette journée est organisée par le Vélo Club de Tignes.
